Ongoing Support & Community

New Leaders receive job search assistance to identify and secure school leadership positions. Once in school leadership roles, they continue to receive ongoing support from New Leaders staff and the broader New Leaders community as they work toward the goal of high academic achievement for every student. New Leaders become life-long members of the New Leaders Community and benefit from continual feedback, coaching, and the exchange of effective practices from a national network of educational leaders. Additionally, in order to achieve dramatic results, New Leaders for New Schools is constantly exploring and piloting effective ways to support the performance of all students in schools led by New Leaders principals. We are building local program models and national initiatives designed to provide our growing community of principals with the support and tools they need to succeed. Our ultimate goal is for each New Leader to become a highly-effective and autonomous school leader with demonstrated results in their schools. To achieve this goal, we provide ongoing support after the residency that is tailored for each New Leader and his/her school. The following are examples of Ongoing Training and Support that we provide for our New Leaders:

Ongoing Coaching and Mentoring
New Leaders receive job search support and are supported by mentors, coaches, and the entire New Leaders Community for the first few years as a principal. This support includes one-on-one conversations and school visits with Leadership Coaches/Specialists to define and hone strategic plans, reflect on personal skills and development needs, observe and provide feedback on New Leader behaviors, and measure progress against plan. New Leaders also attend small and large group meetings to share promising practices, resources, and lessons learned.

Interim Assessment Initiative
The Assessment Initiative focuses on supporting the work of New Leaders as they drive efforts to transform their schools into data-driven cultures, including products related to assessments and extensive school-wide training and guidance on the processes for implementation at the school level.

Community

The National Online Community/The Community of Effective Practice
This online community links the entire New Leaders national network. It is the vehicle by which members of the network can access and share their most promising practices and the best of education research. [ Online Community Login ]

The Effective Practice Incentive Community [ EPIC ]
New Leaders for New Schools and an 80-member coalition of leading education organizations launched the Effective Practice Incentive Community. This $90 million nationwide initiative will boost student achievement by identifying high-performing principals and teachers in our nation's urban public schools, and providing them with financial incentives and leadership opportunities to share their effective practices with other principals and teachers in public schools nationwide.
